Berlin - SMP advised 468 Capital on the formation of its new early-stage "deep tech" focused venture capital fund. According to 468 Capital, the fund with a volume of 170 million euros will invest in early-stage start-ups in an effort to bridge the innovation gap between Europe and the US. In particular, the fund intends support start-ups in the machine learning, open source and automation segments. The team behind 468 Capital comprises the former rocket internet executives Alexander Kudlich and Ludwig Ensthaler as well as Mesopher founder Florian Leibert. The fund's investor base includes institutional investors, successful founders and larger family offices. 468 Capital received comprehensive legal, regulatory and tax advice on the structuring of the fund from a team led by SMP partners Helder Schnittker and Stephan Bank. In addition, 468 Capital has already relied on the expertise of SMP for transactions.
